Parents Receive Opportunity to Meet Teachers

Every year students, parents and teachers file through the hallways during the annual Open House. Teachers greet parents and students, shaking hands and discussing their plans for the year ahead.

Open house will be held on September 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Teachers will have the opportunity to speak with parents about school activities, classroom curriculum and what should be expected as the year progresses.

“It’s important that parents are involved with their student’s life and that they know what’s going on,” AP US History teacher Mrs. Rena Long said.

Not only does attending open house inform students and parents but it also allows teachers the chance to get to know the students’ parents.

“I can see the parent face to face and develop a parent-teacher relationship with them. If it becomes necessary to speak to the parent later in the year, conversation is much easier to hold after previously meeting them,” Mrs. Long said.
