The Abandoned Ones

Beginning March 26, the community service class will set up a table in the cafeteria during lunches to collect donations for The Abandoned Ones, a program created to help rescue animals in need of immediate assistance said.

“The adoption fees don’t cover all the health expenses the animals need,” history teacher and event coordinator Shalene Anderson said.

Many animals benefiting from the donations need a wide range of assistance from worm treatment to an often overlooked spaying or neutering. Some need homes with loving families to take them in from a neglectful life.

“The more funds we raise, the more help these animals can get,” Mrs. Anderson said. “I believe, we have a civil responsibility to help the animals. They are like small children with no voice. What we give them is what they get.”

Donations will be given directly to The Abandoned Ones foundation and put to use immediately on various different things.

“I’m a fan of the underdog. I will go out of my way to help animals who cannot help themselves,” said Mrs. Anderson. “The animals are grateful. You can tell they are. You just get this warm feeling.”
