Senior’s Art Goes on Display at MISD Center for Performing Arts

The MISD Center for Performing Arts will host an art show for seniors Jessilee Shipman and Anai Vargas Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit will feature photos taken by Shipman and Vargas over their high school careers.

Fine arts director Chuck Roe decided to use the new MISD Center for Performing Arts for its intended purpose of displaying student art. Looking for prospective artists to show off, Mr. Roe went to Mr. Mason after hearing about its artistic reputation.

“When Chuck Roe came to me looking to showcase student artwork the first two people I thought of were Anai and Jessie,” Mr. Mason said.

The exhibit will remain open from Oct. 8-19, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

“By taking pictures I get to show people the other side of the person in the photograph,” Vargas said. “I think people should see that.”

Megan Rathbun
Megan Rathbun, LBTV Assistant Producer
Hello there. How are you? Good? Oh, me too. Probably. Anyway, my name is Megan Rathbun, and this is my second year in Newspaper, except this year I have a fancy position— LBTV Assistant Producer. You may have seen me around the school, perhaps even stalking you for “Newspaper reasons”, or, I could be reading this over your shoulder right now. To check this look at the photo above these words. If there is a person behind you who is identical to said photo, it’s me. I feel comfortable writing that and being creepy because no one- no one outside of the Journalism department- reads these bios. Therefore, if you are a non-journalism student, and you have read this, you can find me in the hallway and tell me how creepy that was. Also, purple, triangle, square, fifteen, yellow. So long, and thanks for all the fish. [email protected]
