Legacy Debate will compete in Cross Examination district tournament at Ennis High School on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The teams, composed of two students, go head to head against each other debating the topic “The United States Federal Government should substantially increase its economic engagement toward Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela”

Students spent months researching, debating, and writing cases for the topic in preparation for the district competition.

The winning two teams will advance to the state competition at University of Texas at Austin on March 14 to debate against other 4A district champions.

“We are really proud of them and excited to see what they do today. We are expecting great things.”

Henry Jones, Feature Editor
Hi! My name is Henry Jones and I’m the Feature Editor for this school year. This will be my second year writing for The Rider and I’m very privileged to be a part of this awesome team of people. Aside from The Rider, I’m the Legacy Debate captain. Outside of school I enjoy camping in the great outdoors and playing an unhealthy amount of videogames. Anyway, I’m looking forward to my senior year. [email protected]

Hey, I'm Hillary Brown and I love cats! Just thinking about all those cats without someone to love them just makes me so sad, but nobody's got time for that. I'm shy when I first meet new people, but I'm crazy if you get to know me. Funny thing is, I love to hang out with friends, but I don't really like going to school events. Which is crazy since I'm on photo staff and I have to take pictures for almost everything that goes on here at Legacy. That's why this year one of my best friends is making me go to homecoming. I can't wait. I hope being on staff will help me not be as shy, but it might take a while. I love my journalism family. They are almost as awesome as Mallett is, but not yet. [email protected]
