For the first time, Mansfield athletic programs will host a fundraiser to raise money for the Special Olympics. Before, the programs would give a certain amount of money to the cause rather than holding a fundraiser. The programs will auction off the suites at Newsom Stadium for all of their home games.
When is it?
This will be for all the home games at the stadium. The winner of the auction will receive six seats to enjoy the football games with access to a private buffet and soft drinks. To find when Legacy will play at home, participants can go to the football website.
Where is it?
The suites will be auctioned off at Vernon Newsom Stadium. The suite participants enter a raffle for the VIP section of the Press Box. People wanting to sign up for the silent auction can participate online.
What is it?
This year the football program will auction off suites at the Newsom Stadium. All the money the football program raises will go toward the Special Olympics hosted in Mansfield. Normally, the programs around the district would donate $10,000 to the Special Olympics. However, the new Athletic Director Phillip O’Neal thought rather than the different programs donating $10,000 to the cause this would be a new and fun way to help out.
Many of the football coaches around the district have helped to put this fundraiser together and to get the word out. Coach Michael Keel, one of the offensive coaches at Legacy worked with the other coaches to make sure people knew about the fundraiser.
“Special Olympics is a very important cause because the values of athletics can benefit everyone,” Coach Keel said.
