Final Blog: Kale Ward

This is it. The last story I will be writing for the newspaper of my high school career. Journalism has been very fun, and I would definitely recommend taking this class to the younger students because I know that they would enjoy it just as much as I did.

Throughout journalism I have learned how to better my writing skills which will help me in college when I major in sports marketing and minor in journalism. I have made several new friends in this class which also makes it harder to move on after this year, because now there are more people that I have to say goodbye to when I go off to college.

Having a story post on therideronline.com is a great feeling that I am going to miss once this year is over. I am hoping that at Frank Phillips Junior College, where I will be attending next year on a baseball scholarship, has an online newspaper that I can get involved with. When people hear about the option of being in newspaper class they get a little scared because they don’t think their writing is good enough to be in the class or they are shy and don’t want other people to read their stories. Honestly, nobody in newspaper will make fun of you for your writing, they will just help you make the story even better. If you are worried you aren’t good enough at writing to get into newspaper then take Journalism One to refresh and better your skills, because I promise you that once you get in newspaper or yearbook you will have a blast.

This is going to be a bittersweet goodbye, I will be going off to accomplish bigger and better things in my life. I mentioned earlier in this blog that I will be attending Frank Phillips College in Borger Texas which is in the panhandle on a baseball scholarship. I will be graduating from there with an Associate’s Degree of Applied science, but when I transfer to a university I will be getting at least a bachelor’s in sports marketing and I’ll be minoring in journalism. I’ll be about six hours away, but I will definitely still be keeping up with therideronline.com when I have some down time in my dorm.

I just want to say goodbye and goodluck to everybody who will be joining the “Journalism Team” and to everyone who will be leaving as well. It’s been a fun ride and I can’t wait to see what next year brings to everybody. Adios muchachos!
