“He struck him out looking! It’s over! It’s over!,” long-time Rangers broadcaster, Eric Nadel, announces over the radio marking the first World Series win for the Texas Rangers. Immediately following the final out, fans erupt into joyous celebrations, and lines outside of Academy, Dick’s, and Rally House grew long as fans can’t wait to get their World Series championship gear. After 2011 when the Rangers were one strike away from winning it all, this became the third appearance in the World Series in franchise history. This team made history and won it all.
Recap
After pitching the last 2.1 innings for the Rangers only giving up one hit and four strikeouts, including the final strikeout of Ketel Marte, Josh Sborz spiked his glove into the turf and went to hug the catcher Jonah Heim. Everyone on the field, in the dugout, and the bullpen ran near the pitcher’s mound to celebrate history. The post-game ceremony after saw Corey Seager win his second World Series MVP this time with the Texas Rangers. Seager belted three home runs and made great defensive plays on the field. One of these home runs being a game-tying rocket in the bottom of the 9th inning in game one. Along with Seager’s amazing postseason performance, Adolis Garcia set an MLB record for most RBIs in a postseason with 22 beating out the previous record holder David Freese. Rangers 2nd baseman, Marcus Semien, finally found his footing in the World Series as he blasted a two-run home run in the top of the ninth putting a dagger into the game 5 win. Then after those final three outs, the Rangers had done it.
The Parade & Ceremony
That Friday, the third, the Rangers held their World Series parade and celebration ceremony at Globe Life Field in Arlington. 500,000-700,000 fans showed up for the parade, and MISD gave students the day off for the opportunity to go to the parade. “I went to the parade with my baseball team. loaded up on a bus. We all went together. It was fun. Had a great time. Enjoyed it. Hope hope we can do it next year,” Schroeder said. The parade itself lasted two hours before the players and management gave speeches in front of the ballpark. Chuck Morgan delivered his lines and everything he said through straight passion and you could feel it. “I was getting pretty emotional at the parade I can’t lie,” Crumpton said. The ceremony was truly special, as the joyous mood of all the fans radiated throughout all of Arlington that day. The 2023 Texas Rangers WON the WORLD SERIES, that’s still an insane statement that I can’t believe is true. This team was truly special and they #wentandtookit.
