On March 10 varsity baseball hosted their Friendship game. The Friendship game is where players are introduced alongside their partners in PE before the game. Junior Grant Peterson was introduced with his friend Daniel Rothwell before the game, then went on to hit a homerun during the game.
“I loved being able to walk out with my buddy and be there with him to enjoy the moment,” Peterson said.
Junior Miguel Quintana was also introduced alongside his partner before the game, then went on to go 2-4 during the game.
“I think it was an important opportunity for them to be on the field with us and enjoy it with us,” Quintana said. “It was fun to walk out with my partner, I could see how happy and excited she got when she walked on the field.”
Events like the Friendship Game give opportunities to partners in PE students to enjoy experiences they might not have had, like being able to walk on the field before a game.
“Experiences like this are important to bringing the school together by showing them that we include everybody,” Quintana said. By bringing them on the field we are able to show them that they’re included with the rest of the school.”
Because Peterson is in Partners in P.E., his bond with Rothwell made the Friendship Game a very special night for both of them.
“Daniel wouldn’t stop giving me fistbumps before the game and my favorite part of the night was talking with Daniel before the national anthem,” Peterson said. “I loved being able to show the FALS kids that they matter and that we support them.”
