From sitting in the classrooms and walking the hallways at Legacy to studying at Harvard and playing basketball, Legacy Alumna Harmoni Turner prepared herself for the 2025 WNBA Draft in the MAC on Monday, April 14.
“I think the name of the school speaks for itself. You want to leave a legacy, and I hope I did that,” Turner said. “Always a Bronco.”
Turner graduated from Legacy in the class of 2020 and continued her basketball career at Harvard. At Harvard, Turner studied African American studies but dreamed of playing in the big leagues.
“I credit a lot of my success to my time here at Legacy,” Turner said. “All of the faith they had in me really played a huge role in my success.”
While a Bronco, Turner maintained a strong relationship with Girls’ Head Basketball Coach Michelle Morris.
“It’s just such a blessing to be a part of her journey,” Coach Morris said. “She’s an amazing kiddo, and what she’s done for our school, community and our program can’t be described in words.”
After averaging 18.5 points per game over her four years at Harvard, Turner was selected with the 35th pick by the Las Vegas Aces.
“I’m so grateful for all of the people that showed up for me when I needed them, and all the family and friends here to support me on the biggest day of my life,” Turner said.
Looking back at her career, Turner came to Legacy and instantly broke records and made her name popular. She then did the same at Harvard, leading her team in points, rebounds and assists.
“I wouldn’t change a thing,” Turner said. “I believe everything happens for a reason, and I am who I am because of the experiences I went through in high school and college. I don’t think I would be standing here today if I tried to alter the past.”
