On May 14, Legacy Choir will perform their last concert at the Legacy PAC. The show will feature all six choirs with their own unique performances including solos, duos and groups in between each performance. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 7 p.m.
“As a senior, this concert means the world to me because it is the last time I will ever perform with Legacy choirs,” Senior Emmie Powell said.
Every year the spring concert for choir stands out from the rest of the concerts. For example there’s always a theme that goes with the concert. This year’s theme,‘British Invasion,’ highlights the time period where British artists and bands were taking over the music industry.
“I also think the theme this year is fun because it’s something we haven’t done before at Legacy,” Powell said. “So it’ll be fun to see the different music artists represented by the classes and by students doing solos and group numbers.”
The concert will open with “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, and end with “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. All choirs will perform the songs together.
“This is my favorite concert because I think everyone has a great time with it,” sophomore Emma Brown said. “It brings the vibes up. I like the individual solos and groups in between the performances.”
Auditions for solo and group numbers were held April 30 after school for students to audition for any song from a British artist.
“It’s fun to be able to see the different choirs perform their class specific songs, since we don’t get to watch them during the actual concert,” Powell said.
On May 13, the day before the final concert, everyone will go to the Legacy PAC to practice the opener and closer with everyone in choir. After that, each class will practice their song so they can get used to being on stage and correct any issues. After everything gets put together and fixed, anyone with a solo, duet or group performance will stay so they can practice their song and figure out what they are doing.
“This concert is kind of like a goodbye concert,” Brown said. “It feels surreal because this makes all the seniors leaving feel more real.”
The seniors always sing their own song together for the last time. This year’s song is “You’ll Be in My Heart” by Phil Collins.
“Choir has been such a huge part of my life for all of high school, and I am so excited and grateful to be able to perform with this community a final time,” Powell said.
