After rehearsing every third period and after school for a week, production theater will perform “Still Life with Iris” by Steven Dietz on April 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Senior Tristan DaLuz will reprise the role of Mozart. DaLuz first played this character in Dec. 2021 for eighth grade UIL One-Act Play and won an All-Star Cast Member award for the performance.
“It feels like a full circle moment,” DaLuz said. “I have been hoping Ferman does this show for a while now, and I have always wanted to play my first supporting lead over again.”
“Sill Life with Iris” is about a young girl, Iris, in the magical land of Nocturno who is kidnapped by the “Great Goods” to be their daughter.

“I want nothing more than to see how I’ve grown from the first time to now, especially since I won’t be pursuing theatre in college,” DaLuz said.
Junior Emily Keating worked on the technical side of the show, like she did for the middle school production.
“The difference between the show this year and in middle school is so wild,” Keating said, “not a single thing is the same except for the actors themselves. From the concept to the set pieces, everything changed.”
The production class puts together all of the aspects of the show, including the set, props, lights, sounds and costumes. Students in production theater also made their own “past coats” to resemble the characters they play.
“My favorite moment about putting this production together was painting all the set pieces,” DaLuz said. “I love being an actor who can do both tech and on-stage work. I think that truthfully, if I were to ever pursue this, I’d go into tech.”
