Local Younglife Program Welcomes High School Members

Younglife serves as a high school ministry where adults go out and develop friendships with students in hopes of sharing Christ with them. The leaders of Younglife try to introduce as many kids to Jesus as possible.

Every Monday night at 7:57 students go to Mansfield Bible Church and attend Younglife, which anyone can attend.

“Usually everyone already dreads Mondays but they have become my favorite day of the week because of Younglife,” senior Nikki Childs said.

Younglife provides a safe place for students to get to together and have fun. The members have a chance to tell the leaders about their issues and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Students also play games, sing songs and have a bible lesson.

“Younglife is a place where you can come and be yourself,” Younglife leader Kama Erby said. “You can act like a complete dork.”

At Younglife adult leaders like Kama Erby organize the program. She has been a Younglife leader for seven years and a Mansfield member for five.

“We started out with like three leaders and now we have like twenty six,” Erby said.

Younglife consists of students attending Mansfield or Legacy High School, but any high school students can join.

“When you go to Younglfe it doesn’t matter what clique you are in,” Childs said. “When you are there everyone just hangs out and has a good time.”

I am a pretty crazy person. I talk way too much and annoy everyone, but I guess my friends don’t mind! I laugh at pretty much anything anyone says or does. I am the person that laughs when I get in trouble (my parents are not really a fan of that). I always have a piece of gum handy, I am seriously addicted. Dancing has taken up every free second of my life since I was three, and I would not have it any other way. [email protected]
