Alumni Clayton Franks and Karlee Kroner participate in the College Signing Day in 2018. The event included cake and a photo booth to celebrate all seniors going to college.

AVID will host their annual college decision day on Thursday, May 2 at 10 a.m. in the varsity gym, with a reception afterward. Seniors are invited to attend this event to show where they will go next year. They should wear their college shirt and sign up using this link.

“Athletes have a college signing day if they’re signing to play a sport at the college,” AVID sponsor Ms. Roberts said. “This makes it where all students have a special day to celebrate their plans for next year.”

School board member Raul Gonzalez is scheduled to speak to graduates who plan to attend college or enlist in the military after high school. In the past, Dr. Butler or Mayor Cook spoke for the event.

“It’s really about how most colleges want you to make your plans of where you’re going by May 1,” Ms. Roberts said. “It’s their decision day, because at this point even now some seniors are still weighing two different colleges and trying to decide, so it’s kind of a celebration.”

AVID organized the event, but for the first time, Inspired, which is a sponsor of the Go center, will pay for it.

Hey, I'm Seth. I'm The Arena Yearbook Photo Editor. I'm a Senior. God is good, He's gotten me this far. Star Wars is the best movie because the mix of science that encaptures the audience into a child-like state of wonder alongside fiction that tells the tale of an adventure that is able to romantically describe the problems of life into the idealism that good and evil can be simplified into two sides.
