Megan Rathbun

Megan Rathbun, LBTV Assistant Producer

Hello there. How are you? Good? Oh, me too. Probably. Anyway, my name is Megan Rathbun, and this is my second year in Newspaper, except this year I have a fancy position— LBTV Assistant Producer. You may have seen me around the school, perhaps even stalking you for “Newspaper reasons”, or, I could be reading this over your shoulder right now. To check this look at the photo above these words. If there is a person behind you who is identical to said photo, it’s me. I feel comfortable writing that and being creepy because no one- no one outside of the Journalism department- reads these bios. Therefore, if you are a non-journalism student, and you have read this, you can find me in the hallway and tell me how creepy that was. Also, purple, triangle, square, fifteen, yellow. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I have always loved the song “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds, but this year it has more appeal — the fact that it ends one of the most iconic teenage movies of the 80s (and perhaps of all time) doesn’t hurt. I feel like all people just want to be remembered. How else does one explain...

Horrible Christmas Gifts

Megan Rathbun, LBTV Assistant Producer
December 17, 2012

This list serves to educate people on Christmas gifts which should be avoided at all costs. Books: I was once given book six of the Harry Potter series for Christmas, a wonderful book I'm sure. The only problem- I hadn't read any of the five books leading up to the sixth, a perfect example of clueless...

Experiencing the Two Door Tour

Megan Rathbun, LBTV Assistant Producer
April 24, 2013

So many hipsters in one line. I honestly did not know there could ever be that many hipsters, waiting in line to get into the Palladium Ballroom, waiting for Two Door Cinema Club to come on stage and start the show, waiting to forget their lives— if only for a few hours. It felt like a Dr. Seuss...

I hope you are happy with what you have done. Since you have been using my phone- and I know you have been because Sprint tells me you have been calling people- by now you probably have noticed that the A button doesn’t work on the keyboard. Halloween: A Time to Stay Classy

Megan Rathbun, Staff Writer
October 28, 2011

Most high school girls have dressed for Halloween as a sparkling fairy, a witch frightening enough to scare Hansel and Gretel, a perfect princess, been a witch again (of a non scary variety), and a vampire. These costumes have gradually become shorter, to the point where bending over would prove disastrous....

Summer Sarcasm

July 11, 2012

Texas summers make pools feel like boiling water, rubber tennis shoe soles melt to the pavement and shoulders turn bright red. And they make my car turn into a very large Hansel and Gretel style oven, heated by the essence of 16 suns and a habanero pepper(s). With that kind of heat in the forecast, my...
